Reserva Ocho is the Bacardí family's own rum. Inspired by a recipe from 1862 and kept as a private family blend for seven generations, it first reached the public in 1995 as a $400 limited edition in a Baccarat crystal decanter sold to Cigar Aficionado subscribers — and today it's the longtime flagship of Bacardí's aged portfolio and, by most accounts, one of the best pure values in aged rum. It follows the method Don Facundo Bacardí Massó pioneered in Santiago de Cuba: molasses rum from column stills, charcoal filtered, then aged a minimum of eight years in American oak under the Puerto Rican sun, bottled at 40% ABV.
