Charanda is Mexico's cane spirit, a protected denomination of origin made only in the highlands of Michoacán around Uruapan and named for the hill of red-colored soil where the region's first distillery was built; the Pacheco family's Uruapan is the reference brand. Where the standard Blanco blends cane-juice pot-still spirit with molasses column spirit, the Single Agrícola is cane juice only — Saccharum officinarum grown at over 4,000 feet in red volcanic soil, pressed in a water-powered mill, fermented, and double-distilled on a copper pot still, rested in steel and bottled unaged at 46% ABV.
