Description: Venezuelan rum is on the rise. With Brown-Forman’s purchase of Diplomatico and E&A Scheer’s own 2022 holiday bottling also coming from Venezuela, it’s clear this region has captured the rum world’s attention. If it’s good enough for Brown-Forman and Scheer, it’s good enough for us.
The Whistler takes its name from Venezuelan folklore, a sinister ghoul who roams the countryside at night with a sack of bones and a chilling melody. Legend says a modest pour of rum will keep him away, but overindulge and you may find yourself haunted by his whistled notes of doom. To capture this spirit, we commissioned two distinct label artworks: an engraving-style design by Indonesian artist Rezki and a darker, fantasy-metal interpretation by Sri Lankan artist Bihanc.
The rum itself is an “Everything Bagel” of flavors — a complex and indulgent mix that keeps revealing new layers. Expect sea-salt caramel, bitter mocha, baking spices, toasted oak, flashes of citrus zest, and just a touch of petrol funk to tie it all together. Distilled from molasses on a column still, it spent 12 years aging under the Venezuelan sun and another 2 years in the UK before being bottled at its original cask strength of 62.1% ABV. No sugar, no additives, no shortcuts — just pure rum character. Add a few drops of water to unlock more depth, but tread lightly, for The Whistler is always listening.
