Ten to One is named for the ten Caribbean nations of the short-lived West Indies Federation; Marc Farrell, a Trinidad-born former Starbucks executive, founded the brand in 2019 to reintroduce Caribbean rum on its own terms, with no added sugar, color, or flavoring anywhere in the range, and Ciara joined as co-owner in 2021. The White is a blend of unaged Dominican column rum and high-ester Jamaican pot-still rum, briefly rested in American oak ex-bourbon casks, and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) — above the 80-proof whites that dominate American bars, and built for bartenders. Paste: prominent grassy and earthy tones segueing into juicy pineapple on the nose, then fresh cane, white pepper, cut grass, pineapple, green banana, and marshmallow fluff, packed with flavor and fairly dry. The brand calls it its best-in-class expression. Honest note: the Jamaican share makes it a white with real hogo — drinkers expecting Bacardí should know, and Daiquiri drinkers will be pleased — and Rum Ratings scores it a solid 6.8.
