Description: The discovery of gold in the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1874 led to the establishment of the lawless town of Deadwood, where many saloons and other businesses thrived. Whiskey played a central role in the lives of the people living there, and one of the most famous figures from this time was Frontier legend Wild Bill Hickok. Hickok was famously shot dead while playing poker in Deadwood, and his hand, which consisted of two aces and two eights, has since become known as the "Deadman's hand." The fifth card remains a mystery. We raise our glasses to the memory of Bill Hickok and the colorful history of Deadwood.
