Silverado Vineyards Block Blend Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Silverado Vineyards was established in 1981 by Ron and Diane Disney Miller on the Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District, taking its name from the abandoned mining camp at the top of the valley that Robert Louis Stevenson wrote about; the estate joined Foley Family Wines in 2022, and its historic vineyards remain the backbone of the wines. Block Blend is the estate's Napa Valley Cabernet, assembled from select blocks of the home vineyard in Stags Leap and the Mt. George vineyard in cooler Coombsville. The 2022 is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon with 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, aged in French oak, 40% new, and bottled near 14.5% ABV. Tasters find a deep ruby wine with ripe dark fruit, cedar, floral spice and a touch of graphite, then blackberry, black cherry and currant with herbal, pepper and vanilla accents, fine sweet tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish that will reward several years in the cellar.
