Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey Halloween Edition 2024
Smoke Wagon is the bourbon brand of Nevada H&C Distilling Co., founded in Las Vegas in 2012 by Aaron Chepenik and Jonathan Hensleigh, who built the brand on blending high-rye barrels from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The Halloween Edition 2024 is the Straight Bourbon in a limited-run package: the label art glows neon green in the dark, with a skeleton, pumpkins and the brand's crossed revolvers, and it was a one-time run. The whiskey inside is the same bourbon that launched in fall 2019 as an affordable everyday pour: a 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley mash bill, barrels racked on the top two floors of the warehouse and never rotated, no age statement, bottled at 92.5 proof (46.25% ABV) in a 750ml bottle. Breaking Bourbon's notes on the standard release apply: caramel, honey and vanilla with toasted oak and baking spice on the nose, toffee, nutmeg, light oak and tobacco on the palate, and a finish where caramel and light tobacco give way to a burst of rye spice. Pour it neat, mix a Boulevardier, or turn the lights off and let the label do its thing.
