Springbank 10 Year Fino Cask Scotch Whisky

Springbank's standard 10 Year Old is a well-loved, easy-drinking blend of 60% bourbon and 40% sherry cask spirit at 46% ABV — but this Fino Cask edition is something else entirely. It's the fourth of five limited releases in Springbank's ongoing Sherry Series (following PX, Oloroso, and Amontillado editions), bottled in October 2025 at cask strength, 55% ABV, with only 11,400 bottles produced worldwide. The whisky spent six years resting in genuine Fino sherry casks before an additional four years in refill bourbon barrels. According to Toronto-based reviewer Robert De Santis, the result is genuinely unusual for Springbank: the nose opens almost Champagne-like, with sweet green grape and a salty caramel undertone, and surprisingly little of the distillery's usual peat character. That signature Springbank funk does show up on the palate and finish, though, alongside grape syrup sweetness, white grape freshness, and a persistent, distinctive salinity that De Santis attributes to the flor yeast film unique to Fino sherry production. A genuinely rare, limited opportunity to taste Campbeltown character filtered through an unusual cask.
