Taub Family Vineyards Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
Taub Family Vineyards traces its roots to the years just after Repeal, when Marty Taub entered the wine trade in the early 1930s; his grandson Marc D. Taub, who runs importer Palm Bay International, acquired Heritance Vintners in Napa in 2013 and rebuilt it as a Cabernet house focused on Napa's sub-appellations and single vineyards. The Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet from the Rutherford bench, the heart of Napa's Cabernet country, where gravelly, well-drained soils produce the famous "Rutherford dust" tannin. Winemaker Maayan Koschitzky hand-harvests and hand-sorts the fruit, runs an extended cold soak and a long maceration, then ages the wine 18 months in 100% new French oak without racking until bottling. The 2019 finishes at 14.8% ABV in 750ml and shows a rich, dense mid-palate leading to cocoa-like tannins and dark chocolate on the finish. Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling each rated it 93 points, and Wine Spectator gave it 92. Pair it with a bone-in ribeye, braised oxtail or aged Gouda. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
