In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449, and the 2026 World Cup — opening at Estadio Azteca — is the occasion for this release. Inside is 1942: 100% mature highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens, double-distilled, aged a minimum of two and a half years in ex-bourbon American white oak, and bottled at 40% ABV in the penca bottle with the World Cup livery; check your bottle for the edition's details. 12x75: butterscotch and caramel on the nose with vanilla, roasted agave, cinnamon, and light oak, then a smooth, noticeably sweet palate of caramelized agave, toffee, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and cinnamon.
