In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449. 1942 is 100% mature highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens, double-distilled, aged a minimum of two and a half years in ex-bourbon American white oak, and bottled at 40% ABV in the elongated bottle inspired by an agave leaf. 12x75: butterscotch and caramel on the nose with vanilla, roasted agave, cinnamon, and light oak, then a smooth, noticeably sweet palate of caramelized agave, toffee, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and cinnamon.
