Reserva de la Familia is the Cuervo family's private line, made apart from the rest of the house at La Rojeña, NOM 1122 — the oldest working distillery in the Americas — in copper pot stills rather than columns, from eight-to-ten-year organic agave grown in the estate's richest volcanic soil, using only the inner heart; the Extra Añejo launched in 1995, and Platino returned to the US in 2020 for the line's 25th anniversary. Platino is that agave roasted seventy-two hours in masonry ovens, distilled in copper, and bottled unaged at 40% ABV, hand-labeled and wax-sealed with the family crest, transitioning to certified organic.
