Villa One is Nick Jonas and John Varvatos' tequila — made by Arturo Fuentes, the man the industry calls the Godfather of Tequila, from a blend of highland and lowland agave. The pair were inspired on a 2018 trip to Mexico and partnered with Stoli Group, which had bought Fábrica de Tequilas Finos in the town of Tequila in 2016; Fuentes brings three decades of barrel work in tequila, Cognac, and Champagne, and the brand's line is life as it should be. The Silver is 100% blue Weber agave grown five to seven years in both Los Altos and the Tequila valley — herbaceous, earthy lowland notes with sweeter highland fruit — slow-cooked in stone ovens, double-distilled in copper pots, cut with water from the distillery's own artesian well, and bottled unaged at 40% ABV with Varvatos' silver-wire stopper. Thirty-One Whiskey: an appealing herbal, fresh-cut-grass-and-lemon nose and an agave sweetness up front, but a muted, vodka-clean palate — a fair read of a celebrity silver built for smoothness.
