Jung & Wulff Trinidad Luxury Rum
Jung & Wulff is Sazerac's single-origin rum series, named for L.E. Jung and Frederick Wulff, New Orleans importers who once owned the Sazerac House and Peychaud's Bitters. Master blender Drew Mayville built each blend from molasses rums sourced in one country, aged up to 15 years, and bottled all three at 43% ABV. The Trinidad bottling, No. 1, is column distilled at Trinidad Distillers Limited, the Angostura distillery, and tropically aged in Trinidad; a hydrometer test showed no added sugar. Published tasting notes list coffee, prunes, toffee, green apple, and gingery spice on the nose, a medium-bodied palate of dried fruit, orange, cumin, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, and fresh tobacco leaf, and an earthy finish. The Fat Rum Pirate found vanilla and shortbread with spicy oak on the nose, and a spicy, peppery palate with charred bourbon-barrel notes, green apple, and banana. The series launched in the UK in 2021 before arriving in the U.S. It works well in a daiquiri or a Queen's Park Swizzle.
