The mash bill is four grains: roasted New Mexico blue corn (at least 51%), Texas-grown wheat, Texas rye, and malted barley, distilled in the massive Forsyth copper pot stills that anchor the downtown Waco distillery, then aged a minimum of two years in new charred oak in Texas heat that pushes maturation far faster than Kentucky. Non-chill filtered, no color added, bottled at 92 proof at around $30. Breaking Bourbon was surprised by its approachability — still Balcones through and through, a step beyond the malt-based Lineage toward the classic house taste, with a darker profile of pecans, molasses, brown sugar, and fudge. The Whiskey Wash called it a whopper of flavor and a standout in the range: raisin bran and char on the nose, baking spice and rye warmth on the palate, a bite of coffee and leather.
