WhistlePig Snout to Tail Bourbon Aged 10 Years is the Vermont rye house's first serious push into bourbon, released in January 2025 alongside the announcement of its Kentucky outpost, the WhistlePig PiggyBank in a historic bank building in Louisville. The bourbon itself is a 10-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon sourced from an undisclosed distillery, with the mash bill also undisclosed, and the WhistlePig contribution is the finishing: each finishing barrel is fitted with two differently toasted Vermont oak heads, a medium toast at the snout end and a smoked maple wood toast at the tail end, and the barrels are stood on one end in the warehouse to draw from the first head, then flipped 180 degrees to draw from the second. It is bottled at 88 proof (44% ABV), a nod to the 880 miles between its Shoreham, Vermont farm and Louisville. Head blender Meghan Ireland describes it snout to tail: honey, brown sugar and toasted cashew up front, roasted almonds and baked cornbread through the sip, and fresh crust and cedar at the end. Breaking Bourbon found a sweet, honeyed, medium-bodied bourbon with caramel, pie crust and toasted almonds and a mellow, graham cracker finish.
