Wolves x Willett Family Estate The Rye Project Volume 2 is the second release in one of the most unlikely collaborations in American whiskey: Wolves, the California luxury whiskey house founded in 2015 by Undefeated co-founder James Bond and designer Jon Buscemi with master distiller Marko Karakasevic of Charbay, and Willett Distillery, the cult family-owned operation in Bardstown, Kentucky. The 2022 Volume 2 release is bottled at 114.7 proof.
The Rye Project pairs Willett's Kentucky straight rye with aged Indiana rye selected by Wolves head blender Eddie Gonzalez, then rests the blend in Northern California before bottling at cask strength. Willett rye brings its signature dill, cherry and baking spice; the Indiana component adds wintergreen and candied-ginger sweetness; and the California maturation rounds the whole thing off. Wolves releases are produced in tiny quantities and packaged like the luxury objects they are, and the Willett name makes this one a must for Willett collectors who chase every family estate single barrel. A rare bottle that is as much a piece of whiskey culture as it is a rye.
