2 Gingers Blended Irish Whiskey was created by Kieran Folliard, the Irish-born Minneapolis pub owner who named it after the two red-headed women who raised him, his mother and his aunt. It is distilled at the Kilbeggan Distillery in County Westmeath and bottled at 80 proof as a blend of malt and grain whiskeys.
It pours warm gold with honey, vanilla and a little citrus on the nose. The palate is sweet and malty with light fruit and a touch of spice, and the finish is smooth and short. Folliard built the brand around the Big Ginger, a tall pour over ice topped with ginger ale and a squeeze of lemon and lime, and that is still the best way to drink it. It also works in an Irish coffee or as an easy shot.
