Adelphi Selection Bunnahabhain 1998 is a 24-year-old single cask Islay malt bottled by Adelphi, one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers. Distilled in 1998 at Bunnahabhain, the unpeated Islay distillery on the Sound of Islay, it spent 24 years in a sherry cask before bottling at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV, non chill-filtered and uncolored. Only 648 bottles were released. 750ml.
This is a deep, sherry-driven Bunnahabhain. The nose gives dark chocolate, cured ham, star anise, leather, cigar box and old Highland toffee. The palate is rich with roast beef jus, rancio, crème caramel, dates, figs and demerara sugar, then tiramisu, salted caramel brownie and a flicker of mint. The finish goes on and on with toffee, licorice, salt, blackcurrant, raisin, ginger and cinnamon. A serious whisky for the serious collector.
