Aerstone Sea Cask 10 Year is a Lowland single malt from William Grant & Sons, the family company behind Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, made at their Ailsa Bay distillery on the Ayrshire coast. Aerstone was designed to make single malt simple: Sea Cask is the smooth and easy style, matured for over ten years in warehouses beside the sea, while its sibling Land Cask is rich and smoky. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky is light and clean with vanilla, honey and soft orchard fruit, a gentle malty sweetness and a subtle hint of sea salt on the finish from those coastal warehouses. It is an ideal first single malt for anyone moving up from blends, a very easy sipper neat or over ice, and a fair-priced daily dram from one of Scotland's great whisky families.
