Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Argentine energy billionaire Alejandro Bulgheroni bought 14 acres in St. Helena from Bill Harlan and enlisted Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland to build a Napa estate (also known as Lithology) around the Beckstoffer heritage vineyards. The flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a 212-case blend drawn half from Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville and half from the home estate plus Beckstoffer Dr. Crane and Las Piedras in St. Helena. Winemaker and geologist Matt Sands, with the estate since 2015, blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Cabernet Franc alongside consultants Melka, Rolland, and Maayan Koschitzky, aging the wine 22 months in 72% new French oak before bottling at 15.1% alcohol. Jeb Dunnuck awarded the 2021 a perfect 100 points, finding crème de cassis, black raspberries, flowery incense, new leather, and chocolate in a full-bodied wine with ripe, polished tannins that should age 30-plus years. Sands calls it a Burgundian expression of Cabernet. Each 750ml ships in a wood box; decant 90 minutes and serve with prime rib or a dry-aged tomahawk. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
