Antica Torino Amaro della Sacra is a Piedmontese amaro from Antica Torino, the Turin-based producer that revived the region's classic vermouths and liqueurs from historic recipes. Named for the Sacra di San Michele, the ancient abbey perched above the Susa Valley outside Turin, it is made by infusing a blend of alpine herbs, roots and citrus peel, including gentian and bitter orange, and bottled at 35% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The amaro pours deep amber with an aroma of bitter orange, gentian and mountain herbs. The palate balances a pronounced, clean bitterness with the sweetness of dried fruit and a layered herbal complexity, finishing velvety and long. Serve it neat or over ice after dinner, top it with soda and an orange twist, or use it in place of Averna or Montenegro in a Black Manhattan or a Paper Plane.
