Ardmore Legacy Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ardmore Legacy is the entry point to Ardmore, a Highland distillery founded in 1898 in Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire, by Adam Teacher to supply the heart of the Teacher's blend. Unusually for a mainland Highland distillery, Ardmore has always made peated whisky, and Legacy is a marriage of roughly 80% peated and 20% unpeated malt, matured in American oak casks. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The nose gives honey, vanilla and citrus with a soft, sweet peat smoke and toasted oak. The palate is creamy and smooth with orchard fruit, toffee and caramel, a touch of spice and that gentle Highland smoke running underneath, leading to a long, warm finish. It is an easygoing, lightly smoky single malt that suits newcomers to peat and makes a very good value daily dram or Highball base.
