Ardnamurchan AD/ Cask Strength Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ardnamurchan Cask Strength comes from the westernmost distillery on the British mainland, built by independent bottler Adelphi on the wild Ardnamurchan peninsula and opened in 2014. The distillery runs on local hydro power and woodchip and uses a mix of peated and unpeated barley, giving its spirit a coastal, lightly smoky character. This release is bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.7% ABV, non chill-filtered and uncolored, in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is ripe apple and pear with a gentle drift of peat smoke and sea air. The palate is rich toffee and honeyed malt balanced by earthy smoke and a touch of oak spice, with a velvety texture that carries the strength well. The finish lingers on smoke and oak. Ardnamurchan has become one of the most talked-about new Scottish distilleries, and this is its bold, undiluted expression.
