Auchentoshan 12 Year Old is the flagship of Scotland's only distillery that triple-distills every drop it makes. Founded in 1823 in Clydebank on the outskirts of Glasgow, Auchentoshan uses the Irish-style triple distillation to produce a lighter, cleaner Lowland spirit, and twelve years in bourbon and sherry casks build it into an easy-drinking single malt.
Bottled at 80 proof, the 12 Year opens with toasted almond and pistachio, then moves into crème brûlée, orange peel and a light touch of sherried fruit. The finish is soft and gently sweet with a little ginger and vanilla. This is a Lowland malt built for approachability: no peat, no heavy oak, just a smooth, nutty dram that works neat or as the base of a whisky highball.
