Ayiti Bitters Company Fèy Anmé Forest Liqueur
Fèy Anmé ("bitter leaf" in Haitian Creole) is a forest liqueur from Ayiti Bitters Company, a Haitian producer that builds its bitters and liqueurs on the island's herbal traditions and its native cane spirit. Haitian cane spirit is infused with a blend of native botanicals, including bitter orange peel, wild herbs, cacao husk and forest foliage, then lightly sweetened. Bottled at 35% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is bitter orange, wild herbs, cacao husk and green forest leaves. The palate layers bitter botanicals, dark chocolate, rooty depth and candied fruit over the smooth, warm cane spirit, and the finish is long with herbaceous bitterness and woodsy spice. Sip it neat as a digestivo, stir it into a rum Old Fashioned or a Black Manhattan, or top it with soda. A rare and fascinating amaro from the Caribbean.
