Bernardus Soberanes Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
Bernardus is a Monterey County winery with a long record of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and its Soberanes Vineyard bottling is a vineyard-designated wine from the Santa Lucia Highlands. The appellation was established in 1991 and sits in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains, where Pacific fog and Monterey Bay breezes cool the vineyards and extend one of the longest growing seasons in the region. That extra hang time gives the fruit concentration while the cool air keeps acidity bright. Bottled at 14.4% alcohol, the wine opens with aromas of fresh red berries and rose petals, along with a hint of earthy forest floor. On the palate it shows raspberry and pomegranate with a subtle touch of spice, and notes of cherry and cranberry add to the profile. It is dry and medium-bodied, with firm structure and a vibrant finish that makes it a natural match for richer foods. Pair it with grilled salmon, Peking duck, roast chicken with cherry glaze or mushroom risotto. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
