Casa Limònio is a family liqueur house in Partinico, in the hills west of Palermo, founded in 1992 by Vincenzo Russo and still run by the Russo family. They grow citrus organically, pick the fruit and botanicals by hand in season, and make every liqueur from old family recipes: the raw ingredient is infused in stainless steel, then blended with Sicilian grape distillate, water, and sugar. Nothing is filtered, so the natural oils stay in the bottle along with the color. Alloro is made from Sicilian bay laurel leaves, picked by hand in the cool early morning to keep their aromatic oils, then infused and bottled unfiltered at 35% ABV. It pours a vivid, luminous green. Expect savory bay leaf up front, then earthy undertones, gentle spice, and a fresh, resinous finish, with a silky texture from the oils.
