Casa Limònio is a family liqueur house in Partinico, in the hills west of Palermo, founded in 1992 by Vincenzo Russo and still run by the Russo family. They grow citrus organically, pick the fruit and botanicals by hand in season, and make every liqueur from old family recipes: the raw ingredient is infused in stainless steel, then blended with Sicilian grape distillate, water, and sugar. Nothing is filtered, so the natural oils stay in the bottle along with the color. Giada is the family's lemon liqueur, Sicily's take on limoncello, made from Femminello Zagara Bianca lemons grown in the Conca d'Oro valley around Palermo. It's bottled at 35% ABV and left unfiltered, so it pours a naturally cloudy, bright yellow-green. Expect deep, fresh lemon on the nose, a warm, persistent palate, and a soft finish rather than a sugary one. Keep it in the freezer and pour it ice-cold after dinner, or alongside cake, fresh fruit, or gelato.
