Celaya Blanco Tequila
Celaya Blanco is the unaged expression from the tequila brand founded by Matt and Ryan Kalil, brothers and former NFL Pro Bowlers, who named it for their great-great-grandfather José Celaya, said to have made agave spirit in Sonora in the 1800s. It is produced at NOM 1438, Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, also known as Casa Maestri, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, from a proprietary blend of highland and lowland blue Weber agave. The mix is deliberate: valley agave for earth and minerality, Los Altos agave for fruit and sweetness. The blanco is certified additive-free and bottled at 40% ABV. The brand's description is subtle, rounded herbal aromas moving into bright citrus, clean and fresh, built to work neat or in cocktails, and Drinkhacker's review picked up the same agave herbaceousness with lime citrus and gentle sweetness on the nose. It is the everyday bottle in the range, priced for a margarita or a Ranch Water rather than the display shelf. Every bottle of Celaya sends a dollar to an affordable-housing program for agave farmers and distillery workers in Jalisco.
