Chalone Vineyard Estate Grown Chalone Pinot Noir
Chalone Vineyard farms one of California's oldest wine properties, planted in 1919 with production beginning in 1960, on a high, isolated mountain plateau in Monterey County beside Pinnacles National Monument. At roughly 1,800 feet, the estate sees strong coastal winds and cool nights, and its soils of limestone and granite give the wines their mineral edge. This estate-grown Pinot Noir is matured in French oak and bottled at 14.5% alcohol. Aromas include cherry, strawberry, leather, truffle, forest floor, plum and cinnamon. The medium-bodied palate offers plum, bright red cherry and strawberry, with toasty oak, vanilla and baking spice, all supported by medium acidity. It sits between a fruit-forward and an earthy style, so it handles a range of dinners. Pair it with roast duck, pork loin with plums, grilled mushrooms, or aged Gouda. Decant for a short time if the bottle is young, then serve around 60 degrees. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
