Chicken Cock Cotton Club Rye 20Yr
Chicken Cock Cotton Club 20 Year Rye Whiskey is a limited release from Grain & Barrel Spirits, the company that revived the pre-Prohibition Chicken Cock brand once poured at Harlem's famous Cotton Club during the speakeasy era. This bottling is a 20-year-old Canadian rye, bottled at 100 proof, with a run of 9,570 bottles.
Drinkhacker rated it an A-, and the notes read like a dessert menu: butterscotch, marzipan, baked apple, butter pecan and apple fritter, with the two decades of barrel time delivering a rich, rounded whiskey rather than a woody one. Well-aged Canadian rye at this age and proof is rare, and the Cotton Club release lands at a price well below what comparable Kentucky ryes of the same age command. It comes in a striking package that nods to the brand's jazz-age history, which makes it a strong gift for a rye collector.
