Chivas Regal XV is a 15-year-old blended Scotch with a French twist: after maturing at least fifteen years in oak, the blend is selectively finished in Grande Champagne Cognac casks, a first for Chivas Brothers. Built on the Speyside malt of Strathisla and presented in a gold bottle, XV was created with celebration in mind.
Bottled at 80 proof, it is sweet, fruit-driven and silky: stewed apple, orange marmalade and poached pear on the nose, with butterscotch, honey, vanilla and a soft floral lift from the Cognac wood on the palate. The finish is smooth and lingering. The Whiskey Wash singled it out as the Chivas for drinkers who prefer a sweeter, fruit-forward profile.
