Great King Street Glasgow Blend is the bolder sibling of Compass Box's Artist's Blend, made in the richer, smokier style Glasgow's Victorian blenders favored. John Glaser's London blending house built it with a higher proportion of malt whisky, a share of peated Islay malt and a portion matured in sherry casks, for a blend with real weight and a whisper of smoke.
Bottled at 86 proof, non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, Glasgow Blend offers dried fruit, dark honey and toffee on the nose with a drift of peat smoke, then a full, chewy palate of sherried fruit, malt, gentle spice and smoke, finishing long and warming. It is the blend for drinkers who find most blends too light, an excellent value against Johnnie Walker Black, and a natural base for a smoky Old Fashioned.
