Crown Royal 30 Year Canadian Whisky
Crown Royal 30 Year Old was announced in November 2023 as the second release in Crown Royal's Extra Rare series and, at the time, the oldest whisky the brand had ever bottled, following the 29 Year Old from the year before. It's a blended Canadian whisky aged for a minimum of thirty years, and only 6,000 bottles were produced. According to Crown Royal, every whisky in the blend was distilled in Coffey stills, then aged in used barrels at the company's historic LaSalle distillery before being blended at Gimli, Manitoba. It's bottled at 46% ABV, and the bottle and box carry gold accents with an iridescent, pearl-like sheen. The official tasting notes describe ripe pear, maple syrup and baking spices on the nose; orchard fruit, caramel and warm spice with vanilla on the palate; and a sweet, creamy finish with oak and cinnamon, all carried by a velvety mouthfeel and the full-flavored spice of Canadian rye grain. Suggested retail at launch was $500, and distribution was limited to a short list of U.S. states and military channels. With so few bottles made, this is a collector's whisky and a rare chance to taste three decades of Crown Royal stock.
