Don Julio 1942 Anejo Tequila 375ml
The 375ml Don Julio 1942 is the half bottle of tequila's first unicorn — the penca bottle in a size for a flask, a stocking, or a first taste of the most-requested añejo in the world. In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449. 1942 is 100% mature highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens, double-distilled, aged a minimum of two and a half years in ex-bourbon American white oak, and bottled at 40% ABV in the elongated bottle inspired by an agave leaf. 12x75: butterscotch and caramel on the nose with vanilla, roasted agave, cinnamon, and light oak, then a smooth, noticeably sweet palate of caramelized agave, toffee, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and cinnamon. Sip Tequila: lush and layered, a long, warming, elegant finish. Honest note: the half bottle is the smart way to find out whether 1942's sweet, soft luxury style is yours before committing to the 750 — and the easiest 1942 to gift. Neat, on a big cube, or shared. The unicorn, in a half.
