Dos Primos Añejo Tequila
Dos Primos is the tequila brand of country singer Thomas Rhett and his cousin Jeff Worn, who started working on the idea in 2018 and launched with a blanco in 2021. The Añejo arrived in March 2023 as the third expression in the line. The tequila is made at Destiladora González Lux, outside Arandas in the Highlands of Jalisco, where third-generation master distiller Rodolfo González worked with the founders on all three expressions. The agave is 100% blue Weber, sourced from Los Altos and the valley areas of Jalisco. For the Añejo, the tequila is aged for at least 13 months in used bourbon barrels, a little past the one-year minimum for the category, which gives it a bright amber color. The brand describes notes of brown spices, dried fruit and caramel on the palate. The bottle carries the same fabric label signed by both cousins and the black leather cord around the neck that mark the rest of the range. Pour it neat or over a single large cube, or use it in place of whiskey in an Old Fashioned, where the bourbon-barrel character fits right in.
