Educated Guess Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon
Educated Guess is the flagship label of Roots Run Deep Winery, founded in Napa in 2005 by Mark Albrecht with the idea that choosing a wine should not feel like a gamble. The Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon is built from Cabernet grown across the county's valley-floor and benchland sites, blended with small amounts of Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Malbec for color, spice and backbone. The wine is aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels to layer vanilla and toast over the fruit without burying it. At 14.5% ABV it drinks full-bodied and generous. James Suckling scored the current release 90 points, calling it full-bodied and chewy with juicy fruit underneath, while the winery's notes describe a spiced, cedary nose of dark cherry, ripe plum, cigar box and a hint of wet earth, followed by a mouthwatering finish lifted by the Petite Sirah. It is a dependable weeknight Napa Cab for grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs or aged cheddar. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release. 750ml bottle.
