El Pino Club is a Foley Family Wines project that gathers expressive Pinot Noirs from respected growing regions, and Sea Floored comes from the Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County. The appellation runs east to west, which lets cool Pacific air travel inland and gives the area long, mild ripening seasons, and the name nods to the ancient seabed soils underneath the vines. Bottled at 14.3% alcohol, the wine opens with a burst of juicy boysenberry and black cherry cola aromas. On the palate, ribbons of black pepper and pomegranate fruit are supported by elegant tannin, and the finish brings refined espresso and plum compote. It is a darker, more generous style of Pinot Noir than many coastal bottlings, with enough fruit to appeal to people who normally drink Syrah or Merlot, and it holds its freshness well. Serve it lightly chilled with grilled sausages, roast duck, barbecue pork, mushroom pizza or sharp aged cheeses. It also works well with dishes that have a little pepper or smoke. 750ml bottle.
