El Pino Club is a Foley Family Wines project built around the idea that Pinot Noir is fickle, funky and endlessly interesting. The Cusp comes from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, a classic Pinot Noir district where morning fog and cool evenings balance sunny afternoons. Bottled at 13.8% alcohol, the wine is bright and lifted, opening with strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, followed by mushroom, wet leaves and forest floor. The palate layers red berry, cherry skin, raspberry coulis and cranberry with damp earth, moss and a hint of truffle. Silky tannins and fresh acidity support the fruit, which keeps the wine light on its feet and very food friendly. It leans toward the savory, earthy side of the Russian River Valley rather than the jammy side, so it suits drinkers who like their Pinot Noir with a little wildness. Serve it lightly chilled on a warm evening or at cellar temperature with a heavier meal. Pair it with roast chicken, seared salmon, mushroom ravioli or a charcuterie board. 750ml bottle.
