Elements of Islay Bourbon Cask Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Elements of Islay Bourbon Cask is one of three core releases from the independent bottler Elixir Distillers, whose periodic-table-style Islay bottlings have a cult following among peat lovers. The Bourbon Cask edition is a blended malt drawn entirely from Islay distilleries and matured exclusively in ex-bourbon American oak, letting the island's smoke and salt show through without sherry sweetness.
Bottled at a hefty 109 proof (54.5% ABV), non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, in a 700mL bottle, it delivers classic Islay character with full force: dry peat smoke, sea spray and lemon on the nose, then vanilla, honey, green apple and a wave of ashy, medicinal smoke on the palate, finishing long and saline. It is the purist's choice in the range, a high-strength Islay dram for drinkers who like their smoke clean and their bourbon wood bright.
