Elements of Islay Cask Edit Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Elements of Islay Cask Edit is the accessible heart of the core trilogy from independent bottler Elixir Distillers, alongside the Bourbon Cask and Sherry Cask editions. It is a composition, or "edit," of refill, bourbon and sherry casks, marrying rich, smoky single malt from Islay's south coast with a fresher, fruitier style from the north of the island.
Bottled at 92 proof, non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, in a 700mL bottle, Cask Edit balances drinkability and personality: peat smoke, sea salt and honey on the nose, then a rounded palate of orchard fruit, vanilla, gentle sherried dried fruit and a steady drift of smoke, finishing warm and coastal. It sips beautifully on its own and, at this price and strength, is one of the best Islay malts for a smoky Old Fashioned or a Penicillin cocktail.
