Fabbri is the Amarena cherry — the blue-and-white ceramic jar of syrupy Italian black cherries found in gelaterias and behind bars around the world since 1905 — but the company actually began as a distillery. When Gennaro Fabbri bought an old grocery and wine shop in Portomaggiore that year, he founded the Premiata Distilleria Liquori G. Fabbri, and a gin was among its earliest products; a 1920s bottle still sits in the company museum in Bologna. A century later the family revived it. Fabbri Dry Gin is distilled from juniper, bitter orange peel, licorice and angelica roots, coriander, and cardamom, then married with Purissimo Distillato di Amarena — a clear, pure distillate of the house's signature cherries, which is why the gin stays crystal-transparent rather than pink. Bottled at 41% ABV (82 proof), it took 90 points from Falstaff.
