Ferrari-Carano Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Ferrari-Carano was founded in 1981 by Don and Rhonda Carano in Dry Creek Valley and grew into one of Sonoma's most recognized estates, its Villa Fiore winery and gardens a Healdsburg landmark. Now part of the Foley Family Wines portfolio, the winery still farms the Alexander Valley hillside ranches that define its Cabernet program. The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is built on 100% Cabernet from the LookOut and RockRise ranches, planted on rocky slopes at 500 to 1,400 feet above the valley floor, where thin soils and altitude concentrate flavor and tannin. The wine is aged 20 months in French oak, about 65% new, then rested in the winery's caves before bottling. It is a full-bodied, opulent Alexander Valley Cab: boysenberry jam, currant, leather, maple and cedar on the nose, black cherry preserve and clove on the palate, with firm tannin and a toasty mocha note on the finish. The winery recommends roasted, broiled or barbecued red meats and game, lamb and beef especially, as well as blue cheese or sharp cheddar. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
