Filmland Spirits Moonlight Mayhem Extended Cut Bourbon Whiskey
Filmland Spirits is a Los Angeles whiskey brand that dresses every release as a B-movie, complete with monsters, robots, over-the-top plots and a story to go with each bottle. The team samples whiskeys from distilleries across the United States, then brings the chosen barrels to Kentucky for aging, blending, finishing and bottling. Moonlight Mayhem is the werewolf picture in the lineup, and the Extended Cut is the uncut version: a cask strength straight bourbon bottled at 57.5% ABV (115 proof). The whiskey is sourced from Indiana and made from a mash of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, a high-rye recipe that gives the bourbon its spice; it carries no age statement, and the first batch, ME01, was released in October 2022. The packaging leans fully into the theme, with a movie-poster label and a wooden film-reel stopper. Filmland's own notes describe cherries and chocolate on the nose and palate, a notably creamy mouthfeel, and a long finish of cacao, leather and applewood. At this strength it rewards patience, so pour it neat, then add a few drops of water and let it open up, which is exactly how Filmland suggests drinking it.
