Flowers made a pioneering commitment to the far Sonoma Coast about 35 years ago, planting a remote ridgeline just two miles from the cold, windswept Pacific, and winemaker Chantal Forthun now guides the estate wines with a focus on precision and transparency to place. This Pinot Noir comes from Seaview Ridge, a high-elevation site where ocean exposure keeps the climate cold and the acidity high. Bottled at 14.7% alcohol, it has energetic acidity, spiced red fruit and fine-grain tannins that sit closely together. Aromas of fresh strawberry and raspberry mix with iron-rich rock, petrichor and a hint of wild fennel. On the palate it is tight and finessed, with blood orange, dried mountain herbs and elegant black tea, and a core of rocky minerality carries the long finish. Pair it with seared salmon, roast quail, or a wild mushroom and thyme tart. A thoughtful, high-tension Sonoma Coast Pinot for those who like precision over power. 750ml bottle.
