Four Pillars Fresh Yuzu Gin

Fresh Yuzu Gin is the product of a long obsession. Four Pillars first used yuzu in 2017 for a limited edition made with Melbourne's Kisumé restaurant, returned to it in 2019 for Changing Seasons Gin with Japan's Kyoto Distillery, and again in 2020 — three trial runs before finally committing it to the core range in 2022. It won gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition the following year. The citrus itself comes from Mountain Yuzu, specialty cool-climate growers in Victoria, distilled fresh: yuzu carries a wild mix of lemon, mandarin, kumquat, and grapefruit aromatics, and finger lime adds deeper citrus underneath. What keeps it from being a one-note fruit gin is the Japanese-inspired supporting cast — mature fresh ginger for juicy intensity, turmeric for earthy depth, and sencha genmaicha, a green tea blended with roasted brown rice that adds texture and a light toasty note — all over a canvas of strong pine-needle juniper and a touch of lemon myrtle for lemon curd character.
