Frida Kahlo Tequila is named for the Mexican painter and produced in collaboration with her estate by Dorado, Pizzorni & Sons, a Florida-based company founded in 2005. The tequila itself comes from Fábrica de Tequila El Edén in Jesús María, in the southern Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, under NOM 1465 (earlier batches were made at NOM 1079). It is 100% blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in an antique adobe brick oven, then steamed and cooled to take out bitterness before the cooked agave goes through a roller mill. The juice is naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks for up to four days and double distilled in antique copper pot stills. The Blanco is bottled unaged, straight off the still, the purest look at El Edén's highland agave. Tasting reviews on Tequila.net describe grassy agave with hints of pine, citrus and mint, a crisp entry, a medium-light body and a short finish with pepper and mint. That bright, clean profile is built for the classics: a Margarita, a Paloma or a Ranch Water, or chilled and sipped neat with a slice of orange.
