Gekkeikan Light is the lighter-bodied sibling of Gekkeikan Traditional, the best-selling sake in the United States, brewed at Gekkeikan's Folsom, California, brewery, which the Kyoto company founded in 1989 on Sierra Nevada snowmelt water and California-grown rice to bring its 1637 Fushimi heritage to America. Where the Traditional is bottled at 15.6% ABV, Light is finished at 13.5% ABV, with the same clean, dry, rice-forward junmai character in a softer, lower-alcohol frame, and it comes in the same classic 750ml green bottle with the red-and-gold laurel-crown label, marked "The Finest Light Gekkeikan" on the neck.
