GlenAllachie 2010 Single Cask #4553 is a one-barrel bottling matured for twelve years in Chinquapin oak, a rare American white oak species prized by master distiller Billy Walker for its intense spice and sweetness. Walker, the industry veteran who revived BenRiach and GlenDronach, bought GlenAllachie, built near Aberlour in 1967, from Chivas Brothers in 2017 and has made single-cask releases a cornerstone of the distillery.
Distilled in 2010 and bottled at a full cask strength of 119.6 proof, non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, in a 700mL bottle, it opens with fragrant cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, vanilla and honey on the nose, then a velvety palate of honeyed pear, warm baking spice, dark chocolate and toasted almond, finishing long and robust with lingering Chinquapin warmth. A single cask means a strictly limited number of bottles exist, making this a true collector's whisky.
